5 Potential Signs Your Partner is Cheating on You

Your partner wakes up every morning, and the first thing they do is check their phone. This is pretty normal behavior for younger people – usually, you might spend a couple of minutes checking your messages, social media, email, and calendar. But how much time does your partner spend checking their social media? According to a study by the University of Utah, partners who spend more time on social media are 30% more likely to cheat.

Cheating has always been a common issue for couples, but the way it is carried out has changed with the widespread adoption of social media. It’s now easier than ever before for a partner to start talking to another person, all from the comfort of your own bed as you lie next to them, completely unaware of the situation. It can be difficult to tell the difference between your partner’s honest social media use and cheating, especially since some cheating partners become very good at hiding their behavior.

As a couple, you and your partner have gone through the ups and downs. You have learned each other’s personalities and strengths, both individually and as a couple. But somewhere along the way, you’ve stopped being a fantastic team. Maybe one of you has been cheating on the other. Noticing these signs is the first step to resolving this situation. So, what are the tell-tale signs you should watch out for?

Here Are the Potential Signs Your Partner is Cheating on You:

Indifference.

One often overlooked symptom of infidelity is the lack of interest in you. When your partner is cheating, they are putting whatever they feel in the moment before your relationship above you. They may not show interest in you again for weeks, months, or even years. All of their attention is being diverted towards the person they are cheating on you with, so they may have less interest in you than they used to.

Money Issues.

Have you noticed changes in your partner’s finances? Infidelity can be difficult to spot, especially when your partner is covering it up. Unexplained loss of money, however, could be an indication that they’re spending everything on someone else. If your partner isn’t being honest and upfront with you about their financial situation or seems to be hiding something from you, it could be a sign that they are cheating on you.

Attitude Changes.

The number one sign your partner is cheating on you is attitude changes. You might think that their attitude would be negatively affected, but cheating partners often feel guilty and overcompensate to make up for it. So, if your partner starts taking a sudden interest in your hobbies, spending more time with you and showering you with affection, it could all just be a manifestation of your partner’s feelings towards their own unfaithfulness.

Changes in Communication.

When your partner begins to change the way they communicate, it’s usually a sign that they’re hiding something. Are they avoiding conversation or abruptly ending it? Do they suddenly stop texting you or start sending a tonne of messages out of the blue? Are they suddenly more secretive or more open? These changes in communication are most likely a red flag that your partner is cheating.

Lying and Avoidance.

Are you noticing your partner lying? This could be a big red flag. Lying is a sign of cheating because it suggests they have something to hide. A lying partner is unlikely to share important things with you and more likely to withhold information or act secretively. Another sign to watch out for is avoiding you altogether. If your partner avoids you or turns a cold shoulder when you try to get close to them, it could signify they are cheating.

Everyone has experienced at least one of these things when dating their partner. One of these signs is not proof that they are cheating, but if they’re doing many of the things above, it could point in that direction. Whether these suspicions are related to a co-worker, friend, or new boss can be shocking and hurtful. Sometimes your suspicions are justified, and sometimes they’re not.

Have you ever caught your partner looking at another person in a way that suggest more than a platonic friendship is at hand? If you’re like most people, the answer will be yes. But, how do you know for sure? Even if you think you know, it can be very difficult to open up with your partner about your concerns. Some people believe that if their partner is cheating, then there is nothing they can do, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. The most important thing is to talk and communicate, or you’ll drive yourself mad with suspicion.
